Donate Your Rebate
Did you know your rebate can also be donated back? If you are among the majority of New Zealand donors who do not claim this rebate back from Inland Revenue, why not think about donating it to RASNZ? It’s a great way to make your donation go even further. For example, if you donate $100 you can claim a $33 tax rebate. Donating this tax rebate to RASNZ makes your gift worth $133.
You can submit a donation receipt to the IRD and claim a possible rebate at any time within four tax years of the date of the donation. Any credit will apply to the tax year the donation was made.
Two ways to claim a tax rebate and donate it to RASNZ
- Filing online in a myIR account – visit ird.govt.nz/donations for full information
- Filing an IR526 form – fill out the downloaded form, attach donation receipts and post to Inland Revenue, PO Box 39090, Wellington Mail Centre, Lower Hutt 5045.
Once you have received your rebate back from the IRD you can donate it back to us. Email accounts@rasnz.co.nz or donate online here – please mention tax rebate in the comments so that we can identify and acknowledge your gift.
RASNZ will provide a tax-deductible receipt for your rebate. Email accounts@rasnz.co.nz or phone 09 270 0870 with your name, address, and the amount. We will issue a receipt in your name when the funds arrive. You can then claim a further tax credit in the following year.
